Bible Verses About New Beginnings “I am amazed by how many individuals mess up every new day with yesterday. They insist on bringing into today the failures of yesterday and in doing so pollute a potentially wonderful day.”

That was a quote from Gary Chapman in his book, The 5 Love Languages.

From the beginning of the Bible in Genesis chapter 1, to this day, it was the desire of satan to keep us from experiencing new.

New life.
New beginnings.
Newness in Christ.

satan does his job pretty well Creative Sister.

His desire is to keep you wallowing in guilt. He wants you to see yourself as a failure and he doesn’t want you to see yourself as a child of God.

He wants you to always see yourself as the OLD you when God has promised you that you are a NEW CREATION in Christ.

He doesn’t want you to know and live out these scriptures on new beginnings.

Why are Bible Verses About New Beginnings so Important?

Bible Verses New Beginnings Why are Bible Verses about new beginnings so important?

That answer is the new birth. The new birth is the crux of Christianity where the Lord takes a life and makes it completely new.

My life was changed in an instant that beautiful day in the summer of 1987 when I was 20 years old and in the Army.

I had very limited knowledge about God, His son or the gospel.

And that’s when everything changed.

God’s had been preparing my life and it finally culminated as I knelt at the altar, poured out my heart to HIm, and asked him to forgive me and come into my life.

I stood up that day a new woman.  Gone was the sin and burden that had weighed me down for my entire life.

I knelt down a sinner and stood up a new creation in Christ.

That transformation caused something else to happen. From that moment on I started hungering for God’s word.

New Beginnings in the Bible

The Foundation of Bible Verses About New Beginnings

Behold I Make All Things New God’s promise in Revelation 21:5 states:

Behold, I make all things new.

The word new in the Greek, καινός ( kainos)means recently made, fresh, recent, unused and unworn.  (Thayers definition)

I could give you thousands upon thousands of quotes from secular sources on how to have spiritual new beginnings.  Some would be biblical and some would not.  That’s why the bedrock of our spiritual learning and growth has to be founded upon truth.  False teaching will not give you a godly foundation but Bible verses about new beginnings, founded upon God’s word, will never cause your soul anguish.  You can trust God that His word is true.

Examples of New Beginnings in the Bible

Bible Verses on New Beginnings Have you ever sat through a testimony service in church?  It’s an amazing experience!  The wonderful truth about people sharing their testimonies is that we can see that if God can do something for our brothers and sisters in the Lord, then He can do it for us as well.

That is the whole point of a testimony!  The factual accounts in the Bible are a testimony of the very same thing!  And it’s makes me shout Hallelujah every single time.

One of my pet peeves is when someone calls an account in the Bible a story.  A story is usually fiction, not true, and the accounts in the Bible are not stories.  They are real accounts.  There are many factual accounts of new beginnings in the Bible.  Here are two below.

  1. Job was a wealthy man living in the land of Uz who had 4 honorable qualities in his life mentioned in Job 1:1.  He lived a perfect life, lived uprightly, feared God and abstained from evil.  His life for Jehovah wasn’t an accident- it was deliberate and intentional. God had ultimate confidence in Job, and knew that he would stand the trial of the hottest warfare from hell itself.  Job lost his wife and entire family.  He lost everything that he owned.  He had boils covering his body from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet.  And through all of his trials he didn’t curse the Lord like the devil had thought he would.  What a lesson we can learn!
  2. Joseph was a man who God had a plan to turn a horrible experience into a God moment.  Joseph’s 11 brothers threw him into a pit because they were jealous of him and the plan that God had for them.  Afterwards, he was sold into slavery and ultimately ended up working in the king’s court of Egypt.  When there was a famine, God sent Joseph’s 11 brothers to Joseph for food supplies.  This climactic account has brought me to tears every time when Josephs’s brothers stood before the brother who they had wanted to die.  It was all God orchestrated.

Bible Quotes About New Beginnings

Let’s get started with the collection of Bible quotes about new beginnings, shall we?

Revelation 21:5
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Even though this verse is from the last book of the Bible,  I think it’s the best verse to start with for our Scripture on new beginnings.
If you have confessed that Jesus Christ is Lord, The Bible says, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  If you have confessed that Jesus Christ is Lord He has made you new.

Through God’s gift of eternal life, He can make all things new, including your life.

The former things are passed away (your sin) and you can have spiritual new beginnings!

Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

In the beginning… the first three words of the Bible showcase a perfect world that was not marred by sin.  When sin entered the world God provided a way through His son Jesus.  After sin entered the world the perfect world was fallen.  In the future, we can look forward to the renovation of the earth by fire to purify the earth.

This is literally the first new beginnings Scripture in the Bible.

Isaiah 43:19
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

This prophecy to Judah, by way of the prophet Isaiah, is so descriptive. The new thing that God would do for the southern Kindom would spring forth like water, form it’s way through parched soil and winding it’s way through the desert.

Imagine receiving those reassuring words from God!

Ezekiel 36:26
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

israel’s heart had become hardened and Ezekiel foretold of a time when God would replace their stony heart with a heart of flesh and put a new spirit within them.  I’m reminded of the parable of the sower that Jesus spoke to the multitudes in Matthew 13.

Lamentations 3:22-23
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

The prophet Jeremiah lamented over the destruction of Jerusalem and the Holy Temple while telling of the compassion and mercy of the Lord.  God’s mercies never run out and are new every morning.

Psalm 40:3
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

David sang many songs to the Lord in the book of Psalms but he proclaimed a new song from the Lord that many would see and as a result fear and trust in the Lord.

Ecclesiastes 3:11
He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

After the very popular verses in Ecclesiastes about there being a time for everything,  God placed this lesser well known gem from (most likely) Solomon concerning the wisdom of God.

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

After God’s children were afflicted by uncertainty,  this bible prophecy were words of comfort to Israel from God himself.

Isaiah 65:17
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind

I love how the old testament prophets were used by God to tell Israel of the future that God had in store for them.  We can also look forward to the promise of a new heaven and earth as mentioned in Revelation 21.

Romans 6:4
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

As a result of new life in Christ and becoming dead to our sinful nature, Paul commands that our behavior should match the new life that God has given us.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

We are new creatures.  The old lifestyle, heart and desires are crucified and all things are become new.

Colossians 3:3
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

A beautiful truth from God’s word stating that our old life is dead to us and that we are hidden in Christ.

Colossians 3:9-10
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;  And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

The old man was filled with sin.  The new man is filled with the good works of love and kindness as the children of God.

Ephesians 4:22-24
That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

These verses in Ephesians are a call to spiritual renewal which is manifested in a life that puts away old behaviors and lives in righteousness and seperation to God.

1 Peter 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

As God’s children we have been born anew to a beautiful and lively hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 2:17
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

This Bible promise is specifically to those who are overcomers.  If you are an overcomer, God has given you a new and unique name that no man knows.  How amazing is that?

Revelation 21:1
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

Here we have the beautiful hope of a country that will be our forever home.

Revelation 21: 3-4
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

The last verse for this compilation of scripture of new beginnings is a voice proclaiming a newness where there will be no more death, sorrow, crying,or pain.  All the heartache of this life will be a thing of the past and we will live eternally with our Lord.
