Christmas decorations seem to pop up earlier and earlier each and every year.

And with that,  the true meaning of Christmas gets pushed aside as it becomes more and more decentralized around the birth of our Lord Jesus.

Christmas has turned into a commercialized frenzy as businesses hawk their wares in promotion so the average person can go into debt to please an unspoken requirement that every relative and person must receive a gift.

Simply put, the focus Christmas has shifted from the birth of Jesus to one of greed and commercialism.

Bible Verses About Jesus Birth in the Old Testament

The Bible prophesied of the coming Messiah throughout the entire Old Testament. When you read these Scriptures it’s easy to see God’s plan of redemption from the beginning when man sinned. God knew what he was doing from the very beginning.

Here are just a few of the many Bible verses in the Old Testament that foretold about the birth of Jesus.

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Isaiah 7:14

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Isaiah 9:7

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Zechariah 9:9

After many years had passed, the Messiah of the Jews, and ultimately the Gentiles was born just as it was prophesied.

Here are some Bible Scriptures from the New Testament that speak of the birth of Jesus.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 1:18

Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

Matthew 1:19

Matthew 1:20
