How to Make a Bible Devotional Basket
Just as a scripture speaks to my heart while bible reading and I want to write a note in my bible…. now where’s my pen? I scurry to grab one… and now I can’t find my notepad. And on and on it goes… By the time I get everything together, I’m distracted and my daily bible quiet time has turned into a search and rescue effort instead of a time where I find solace in the Lord. That’s when I came up with the idea to keep all of my supplies organized in a bible devotional basket.

Sound familiar? Wouldn’t it be easier to have everything readily accessible and within reach? I use a devotional basket that has helped me stay organized and keep everything I need at an arms reach for my quiet time.
We all need some christian prayer resources at our ready, don’t we? Here’s how I put my quiet time devotional basket together.
First, jot down what’s important to you and the items you use most frequently as you spend time in prayer and bible reading.
The search for the perfect devotional basket
The choice is yours.
Measure your bible’s width to assure that your bible and other devo goodies will fit into your basket.
I frequent thrift stores and find lovely baskets quite often.
My Bible Study Supplies in My Devotional Basket
The bible that I use for my daily devotions is the Holman KJV Study Bible. I love it because it has a preface to each book of the Bible that includes information about the book, the culture and an outline of the book.
A concordance/companion to help dissect difficult to understand scripture and to give context. I use the Bible Readers Companion.
A Journal to jot down notes and insights as you read and pray.
A pencil case to keep all favorite writing utensils and goodies together. Mine is neoprene and colorful and makes me smile!
My favorite writing utensils are my Pigma Micron Pens and my Papermate Flair Pens. They come in a variety of wonderful colors and write lovely. I use them to underline and circle scriptures as I read, to doodle in the margins and to jot down notes.
Crayola Twistables are in a league all their own. They are magnificent and reasonably priced. They don’t bleed through the page and can even be erased to reduce the opacity of the color in your bible.
Sticky notes. My affinity for sticky notes is at an all time high. They are everywhere in my bible… I use them to take notes, write prayers and even write a quick to do list so I can clear my mind so I can focus on time with the Lord. And, what can I say… having cute ones at hand make me smile.
A Favorite Mug. I love sitting with my favorite mug in the morning with my favorite beverage. Will it be coffee, tea or water?
