During February, Everyone’s focus is on love and on the relationship between a man and a woman.
Isn’t it appropriate to include the love that our Heavenly Father has for His children?
I’ve been recently studying 1 John and one of the main focal points of the epistle is love. What good is God’s love if we keep it to ourselves? The love our Heavenly Father has for us should be expressed through us to the body of Christ.
Love in Action
I don’t want to love only in situations that it’s easy and convenient. The Lord has so graciously showered us with His Love and wants us to share it with others. If we don’t have the love of our Lord, and show it to others, then we have nothing!
How to Make Love Themed Mixed Media Scripture Tags
I’ve been experimenting with Mixed Media Scripture Tags and it’s been so much fun. These would make wonderful gift tags and can be personalized in so many ways.

Ready made tags as a base for my Love Scripture Tags. I glued the scripture down using matte gel medium. Then I hand punched the hole at top. I then tore pieces of paper of paper and painted them down with a clear matte gel medium. (Matte Gel Medium is similar to a clear acrylic paint used in art.) Paint on some MGM, add more paper, paint more MGM, and continue until your tag is covered to your desired layout. Between layers I either let it air dry or used my heat gun. Really easy! Then I cut off the excess on the edges with scissors. (UPDATE: I’ve recently started using clear gesso is a much better alternative because it’s not as gritty.)
After readying the base layer, I applied some pink gelato, painted and swished it around with a wet paint brush, let dry, and added another layer of matte gel medium to seal it in. Next I sewed on some lace through the entire card and then added the roughly cut card stock hearts. Trust me when I say they were roughly cut.

Join Me in Creating Love Scripture Tags
This is the first time I have done anything like this and it reminded me of paper mache with a paint brush. There is (obviously) no perfection in these tags and I actually like the shabby chic look. I plan on using these as tags as gifts and for tip ins in my journaling bible.
***If you are uncomfortable with using an actual bible in your scripture tags you can scan your bible and print it out on paper to use for your creation. Another option would be to type out your scriptures on a word document and print it out in the desired size.
