What’s Inside: The Best Bible Reading Plans for Christian Women

Best Bible Reading Plans for Christian Women

Did you know that one of the most popular new year resolutions is of reading god’s word in a year?

Have you ever committed to read the entire Bible in a year? Chances are, if you’re like the every day average Christian, and I’ll bet you are- you’ve failed a time or two.

Or more.

I’d like to think that’s because you didn’t find a new Bible reading plan that suited your needs.

Most Christians fail in their Bible reading because their reading of the word of God are too difficult and unattainable.

And we don’t want that to happen again, sweet Sister.

I want you to be assured that you can be successful in your daily readings in God’s word but first a quick word about perfectionism.

Perfectionism will set up standards in your heart and mind that you can’t attain to. By keeping your day to day Bible reading program realistic, you are ensuring that your own plan that you choose in reading the books of the Bible will be succesful.

Choosing a Bible Reading Plan is Important

As believers in God, reading His word is important and choosing a Bible Reading plan is one of the most important things we can do to help us to be consistent in our dedication to reading our Bible. Going in all gung-ho with goals that you won’t likely meet won’t set yourself up for success. It’s better to read less with understanding and allowing God to speak to you rather than reading at a break neck speed. On the contrary. That’s why it’s so important to choose a great plan that is the best way to read the Bible in a year that is beneficial for you.

Tips to Be Successful in Reading your Bible Daily

Pray

Every day before you read your Bible, pray and ask God to help you read, absorb and apply God’s word.

Here are a few Bible Scriptures below that you can pray before you daily reading. Ask God to open your eyes so that you may look upon the wonderful truths of His Word. Also ask Him for a desire for His word to satisfy you with this word daily.

Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

Psalm 119:119

O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Psalm 90:14

Choose a plan that is right for you.

You want a plan that is a good fit for your faith experience, how long you have been a Christian and how much time you have daily. If you have about 20 minutes to spend in a Bible reading plan, don’t choose a plan that will require an hour’s worth of Bible reading. It simply won’t get done.

Are you a new believer? Perhaps you need to choose a plan for new believers that will summarize the Bible and be of a shorter length. Or maybe some shorter new testament readings would benefit you. Or maybe a quick 90 day summary/ overview/ of the entire Bible in a summary would be a good place to start.

Are you a seasoned believer in Jesus who wants to study while doing a one-year plan? Perhaps you want to read the whole Bible in a course of a year. These are all questions that we must consider.

Manage your expectations

If you realize what you want to accomplish and have realistic expectations while doing so, chances are you will be very successful in reading your Bible for the first time. If your expectations are too high, chances are that you will fail. Failure can be paralyzing and cause us to put the Bible down for an entire year. We want to prevent this! Brief readings of God’s word on a daily basis are beneficial than overwhelming yourself and quitting.

Make a commitment

The latest research shows that it takes 66 days for a new behavior to become automatic. For that reason, I wouldn’t have a free day from your daily Bible readings. I would recommend making Bible reading a daily habit. It will take intense commitment but it is worth the rewards that you will reap.

There will be times where getting up 10 minutes early isn’t going to be convenient and it will definitely go against your desire to hit the snooze button and sleep a little bit longer. Resist the urge and push through. It will be worth it!

Print out your plan so you can track your progress. Many of the plans listed below come with a Bible reading chart PDF which is beneficial in seeing your daily reading and also keeps you motivated in your reading journey. It also helps you keep track of the different places that you are reading (OT, NT, Psalms and Proverbs) if you are reading in multiple places at one time.

Choose your Bible translation

I prefer the King James Version Bible but there are many Bibles and translations that you can choose from. I would recommend a word for word translation over a thought for thought translation for the sake of biblical accuracy.
