Sometimes, getting a perfectly exposed shot in camera doesn’t happen, so it’s always nice to know that we can use fix exposure in Photoshop and that it’s  a really quick edit.  The great thing is that it’s a quick fix- it only takes a few seconds.   Literally!

What is Exposure?

Exposure is the light that hits the camera sensor due to chosen settings of aperture, shutter speed and ISO.  Overexposing will result in a lighter image and underexposing will result in a darker image.

A perfect exposure in an image can brighten an image, make colors pop and add contrast.  It can take an image from so-so to great.

What is a histogram?

The data in a digital image is captures on a histogram and shows the tonal values in an image.  The lighter tones of your image will be on the right side of the histogram and the darker tones will be on the left side.  Getting correct exposure can be done by a simple adjustment of your histogram in Photoshop.
