Patriotic Rice Krispy Treats- Tips and Tricks

Here’s a list of trusted tips and tricks that I’ve used over the years when making my Rice Krispy Treats

  1. Prepare your favorite Rice Krispie treat recipe.
  2. Spray your pan with non stick spray or line with parchment paper for easy clean up
  3. Use fresh ingredients
  4. Use low heat when melting your butter/marshmallows and stir constantly to prevent burning.
  5. Coat your hands with non stick spray or use plastic wrap to press down marshmallow mixture into pan.
  6. Don’t smash the Rice Krispies too much in the pan.  Press them down firmly but don’t squash the Rice Krispies.
  7. Cut out your stars with the star cookie cutter while the marshmallow mixture is still warm.  If making bars, use a buttered knife
  8. Don’t skimp on adding marshmallows.  Extra is better.
  9. Use different shapes and sprinkles to customize your Patriotic Rice Krispy Treats for other holidays! Try pink hearts for Valentines day and green and red for Christmas.
  10. Store rice krispie treats in an airtight container or bag.
  11. If you need to make your rice krispie treats in advance, they can be frozen. Make sure they are sealed tightly so as to not absorb any odors.
  12. For fun variety and different flavors, try different flavors of Rice Krispie cereal such as chocolate or strawberry.
