Today I want to tell you all about a wonderful practice called Scripture writing that sometimes is called bible writing.

What is a Scripture Writing?

Simply put, Scripture writing is taking scripture verses from the bible and writing them down in a journal or notebook.  Some write books of the Bible, some write specific chapters while others write on a theme with curated verses that support those verses.

Dwell (ἐνοικέω enoikeō) in the Greek means to dwell, live and influence for the good.

What does the Bible say about Writing Scripture?

The Bible doesn’t speak a command in telling us to write Scripture but we do see examples of writing Scripture in the word of God.

The Levites, one of the tribes of Israel, were responsible for writing out the scrolls of the Old Testament to be read in the temple. That’s literally Scripture writing!

How Do You Write Bible Verses?

The first thing you want to do when beginning to write Scriptures is to pray. Pray that God will illuminate your mind and open your heart to receive God’s word. Scripture that the eyes of your understanding me enlightened.

Ephesians 1:8 is the perfect Scripture to pray which reads as follows:

Ephesians 1:8 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Pray that God would open your eyes as you write Scripture so you can know the hope of God’s calling and the wonderful inheritance and riches that He has for you as a child and saint of God.

My favorite ring bound journals come from Dayspring and come in a variety of beautiful faith based covers as seen in the above picture. I would urge you to take a look because new ones are offered regularly. I love supporting a company that is faith based as opposed to a huge company like Amazon. If you don’t have time to wait for a delivery, any kind of journal will do.

One of my favorite features of ring bound journals and planners is the ease of turning pages.

Expired Planners

A few years ago I had purchased an expired planner because it was so colorful and cute. I knew I could find a way to use it, so it became my Scripture writing and praise journal.

It’s one of my favorites. I don’t have a link for this since I purchased it at a store here in Germany. Sorry!
