What exactly is a chapter title? It’s when you read the chapter and assign it a brief overview in your own words, which is usually a as short as possible. I write my chapter titles at the beginning of each chapter so there isn’t much room for much writing.

Each chapter summaries give you a birds eye view of the entire book where you can easily reference happenings in the book of Genesis and it creates an outline summary of the book of Genesis that is perfect for memory aids and quick recollection of specific happenings in the Bible.

Messianic Prophecies in Genesis

It is amazing that there are so many messianic prophecies in Genesis that speak of the coming of Jesus. Many of the prophecies are obscure for the western eye and others more obvious. Here are a few of the more obvious ones:

and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Genesis 3:15

Genesis 3:15 is the first messianic prophecy in the Old Testament and is a bit obscure. It speaks of how the messiah would be born from the seed of a woman and of the salvation God would offer to mankind to save them from their sin. It is fulfilled in Matthew 1:20 and Galatians 4:4)

And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Genesis 12:3

Genesis 12:3 and Gen. 22:18 speak of the Messiah coming from the line of Abraham. It is fulfilled in Mathew 1:1 and Romans 9:5

And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Genesis 12:3

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Gen. 22:18

Genesis 17:19 and Numbers 24:17 speak of how the Messiah would be a descendant of Isaac and Jacob. They are fulfilled in Luke 3:34 and Matthew 1:2.

And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

Genesis 17:19

Genesis 49:10 speaks of how the Messiah would come from the tribe of Judah. It is fulfilled in Luke 3:33 and Hebrews 7:14. It also is an indicator of when Jesus would come fulfilled in Luke 2:1-7 and Gal. 4:4

The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

Genesis 49:10
