Mistakes in BIble Journaling are inevitable
Making a mistake is literally the worst thing that can happen. That doesn’t make it seem so bad, does it? And believe me, it will happen. The best thing to do is accept it. If you’re writing in the margin of your bible, you can always cover it with white out or a sticker If you’re journaling with paint, you can always swipe more paint over it to cover your oopsie. In a pinch, I’ve even covered the entire margin with a piece of paper as you can see in this blog post. (There really IS a way to cover ALL mistakes!)
One thing is for sure- we aren’t perfect people.
Start small with Micro Bible Journaling
Large scale Bible art journaling can be overwhelming and intimidating.
One of the reasons I love micro bible journaling is that it’s simple and can be done in the margins of any bible- you don’t even need a special journaling bible. You can incorporate doodles, stickers or simple notes. It’s really up to you. I love the freedom of journaling in the margins of my every day Bible with tiny Bible journaling (also known as little Bible journaling(
Don’t compare your Bible journaling to others
If you’ve been on Instagram or Facebook for any length of time you’ve seen the lovely work of other bible journalers. Perhaps they have been to art school or maybe they are simply talented.
Don’t let that stop you from pouring your creative heart out to the One who is your God. God isn’t looking at your best work. Nor is He comparing your work another. He’s looking at your heart of worship.
Your worship is your expression and shouldn’t look like the work of any other.
Add Ephemera and Die Cuts
Ephemera and die cuts are an easy way to easily add color and creativity to your bible journaling pages. One of my favorite companies to purchase die cuts is Illustrated Faith. You can find a vast array of their die cut themes on Amazon and they are reasonably priced. I’ve never purchased a set that I don’t love. They are very versatile and can also be used for faith journaling as well. Tim Holz also has some vintage looking die cuts for bible journaling that are gorgeous.
Use premade kits for your Bible Journaling
The beauty of premade bible journaling kits is that they give you fresh inspiration and allow you to open the doors of creativity and make something that you wouldn’t normally think of while faith journaling.
I love to use die cuts from Illustrated Faith (as mentioned above) and they come with scripture verse references on the back side where you can use them to journal.
Use Coloring Pages in Bible Journaling
Journal your Faith Daily
Creativity is like a muscle. The more you use it, the more skill you will gain. Journal your faith daily and it will become easier the more you do it!
Use Printables in your Journaling
Printables are a quick and easy way to get you started and creating in your bible, There are many ways to use them and I have both traced and/or glued them into the margins of my journaling bibles. I have designed my own Bible journaling printable based off the account of Peter walking on the water and it is my gift to you!
Journaling with Tip ins
Tip ins, as shown above, are a wonderful way to journal in your Bible. You can add journaling cards, printables, notes, prayers and drawings in your Bible.
